YouTube Live

Okay, so I'm going to YouTube Live on November 22nd, and I've been very busy.

First of all, I made another Top 5 list of reenactments, two of which were from The Dark Knight. I don't have too much of a problem with this, but I'm a little disappointed. The Dark Knight was only chosen because of how hyped it is, and everyone sort of jumped on the bandwagon and requested the same scene a bunch of times. On the other hand, it is a good scene. I just wish people would have dug deeper.

I've already filmed my #1 Dark Knight reenactment and sent it off to YouTube Live, but it won't air until November 22nd. I uploaded my V for Vendetta reenactment yesterday, and I have to film my Star Wars reenactment today. I've never done these so close together before, and it's a lot of work. My only regret is that I won't have enough time to do the Dark Knight Pencil Scene that was requested at #2, so I'll have to make a video explaining myself. I'll still do it, but it's probably not going to be on YouTube until after YouTube Live.

Anyway... besides YouTube, I just got back from Virginia. I had a supporting role in this indie film called "The Bill Collector." It was a fun experience, and it really made me realize that I love acting. The days just fly by; it's not even work to me. It's just fun. I mean, it IS hard work, but it's not... if that makes sense. It's like every day is an adventure. Anyway, I did that for about two weeks.

I've been waiting to hear about Kid Cannabis, the other movie I've gotten a part in that was supposed to be shot this year. I haven't heard anything, although one of my co-stars in the film, Cam Gigandet, has a lead role in Twilight, and I heard that in an interview, they asked him about Kid Cannabis, and he said that it was still going to get made. That's good to hear. I hadn't even entertained the thought that the project would fall through completely. I hope Cam's right, or I'll be out of a job.

Besides that, I've been auditioning for little things. A few days ago, I auditioned for a voice spot on Family Guy. Hopefully I'll get that... I'm still waiting to hear back on a lot of auditions I did, keeping my fingers crossed.

As I said before, I'm going to YouTube Live. I'm a little nervous, since a lot of details aren't ironed out, and with the exception of my bit announcing the reenactment, I don't know what else I'll be doing. They asked me if I wanted to do a character, and I declined, for a couple of reasons. 1: I don't think the two of my characters (Jonathan Wesley Bridges and Jimmy Jango) are really popular enough to have anybody recognize them, and that would just be... weird, I guess. Plus, I'd feel kind of pressured to perform on the spot, and I'm a nervous guy to begin with, and pretty shy, so I don't think it would go over well.

I'm excited to meet everyone, although I feel bad because I'm not familiar with a lot of these YouTube personalities. I know about Tay Zonday, William Sledd, and Fred.

Ah, Fred. Well, I'm sure Fred has gotten a lot of flak anyway, so let me just say this: not a fan. I think his whole bit is annoying, and shrill, and stupid. BUT, I will say this: he's smart. He found something that worked, and ran with it. I mean, look at the demographic of YouTube: 13-17 males. That's the majority, anyway. So, props to Fred for playing the system. Seriously.

I've checked out some other YouTube stars to sort of refresh myself, so if I meet them in person, the conversations won't be too awkward. My favorite so far is Katy Perry, who I've never even heard of, but after watching her music video for Hot or Cold, I was amazed. She's a great musical artist, and I'm excited to see her perform that live.

I also want to talk a bit with William Sledd, who has really made a good name for himself in the fashion industry. I don't know if he's not working at the Gap anymore, or if he's working for some fashion company now, but he should. I'm concerned about what I'm wearing to YouTube Live, so I may ask him for advice.

Not much else going on. I'd better go film this video and get it done, because I'm leaving for L.A. tomorrow.

Stay tuned.

Hi, I'm a big fan of yours. Can't wait for YouTube Live! I agree about the Dark Knight, although I expected it to win. People should have dug deeper. Oh well.

What Re-Enactment would you have done if you didn't hold the open vote? Or is that hard to decide?

Hey man.
I'm really anticipating YouTube Live. You shouldn't worry about it though, you're most likely gonna do great and be one of the best entertainers there.

I agree about the Dark Knight thing.
I mean, I loved TDK and it deserves it's hype. But I really wish there couldv'e been some reenactment suggestions that were underrated. I suggested the Dinner Table Scene in American Beauty. Thought that wouldv'e been awesome.

Anyway, keep up the good work. Thanks for continuing to blog!

I can see why you're disappointed in some the scenes that got picked. But seriously? Were you _really_ expecting them to pick out scenes with more depth and _not_ overly popular?

I don't follow youtube as much as others. So I missed the vote thing entirely. Personally I would have liked to have seen the scene from Once Upon a time in Mexico, where Sands is speaking to El in the restaurant about keeping a balance and then he goes and shoots the cook. Or any scene from Spaceballs or History of the World part 1. But hey that's just me.

To empress: the first list I did, it was just my fans that requested scenes. My fans consist of a lot of film nerds, like myself (and you, I see ;-) ). So, Two Tarantino films made it to the top, and Clerks was on there too! This time around, my request video was featured on the front page, which gave me some unfiltered responses. Hence: Two scenes from Dark Knight and a Star Wars scene.

Tim brought up a good point.
If you hadn't left it to a vote, what would you have picked?

i didn't even know you were going my most popular, i just thought you were going to pick the suggestions you liked the most.

either way, looking forward to Youtube live, you're gonna be great, and good luck in your career.

and btw i saw the video where Michael Buckley took your glasses hahahaaahahah awesome.

I'm not sure how you request scenes, but I've got one.

Independence Day, the big speech the President gives before they have the epic battle.

"We will not go quietly into the night!"

I saw you on YouTube Live!
Got some impressive dancing skills there, hehe.
The new Re-Enactment is absolutely great, though Joker's voice went a bit slack near the end.

Keep up the great work, Artie!!

Hey Brandon. Wil Wheaton has a blog that you might benefit from reading. (The guy who was in Stand By Me and Star Trek: The Next Generation). He talks regularly about his auditions and what to do when one falls through and you screw it up. I don't even act and draw inspiration from him.

He's also a ridiculously funny writer and geek extraordinaire.

Well, admittedly, your reenactment of the interrogation scene in The "Dark Knight" is pretty spectacular. Your ability to mimic voice and mannerism is uncanny, and with as little preparation as you say goes into your reenactments, I'm curious to see what you'd be like if permitted to method-act. (On that note, would you ever consider yourself a method actor?)

My favorite of your reenactments was "Network." I was positively enraptured by your passion, especially when you reach the climax of the monologue. There aren't nearly enough monologues in popular film today that have a truly moving climax.

Question for you, Brandon: have you considered reenacting a scene from an animated film? Dreamworks Studios is particularly talented at rendering facial expression, and I think it might be an interesting challenge to translate animal to human and cartoon to life.
