More Updates

To those loyal 12 who follow this blog: I apologize for not posting in over a month.

Anyway, enough apologies.

The last time I posted, I had just finished acting in an independent film called "The Bill Collector," and I was getting ready for YouTube Live.

Well, YouTube Live came and went, was definitely a lot of fun. I didn't get to see much of the show as I was on a plane the whole time, but I met a lot of people. That was my favorite part.

Here are some pictures I got on my iPhone while I was there:

Me and Michael Buckley. He is seriously the nicest guy, and after meeting him, I watched a bunch of his videos in amazement. He reminds me of Robin Williams the way he thinks on his feet in real life. Definitely a huge talent.

Me and DaxFlame, one of my favorite YouTubers. I always thought he was doing a character on YouTube... I guess he is, but in real life, he's not much different. Still hilarious.

Me and Damien, aka "makemebad35." This guy lives like 20 minutes from me. I'm hoping to collaborate with him on something. I'm not sure what, though.

Me and TayZonday, aka "The Chocolate Rain Guy." This guy is so cool in real life. He'll do anything for a laugh. He's what you'd call a "ham." He understands completely the ridiculousness of his fame, and at the same time, knows how to promote himself. Real sharp guy.

Last picture I have: me and Caitlin Hill. Just as sweet as sweet can be. Right now she's in New York, and mentioned a project she was working on that I could be involved in.

I do have some video footage from YouTube Live that I shot. I was too busy to edit it all together when I got back (I still had to film the other Dark Knight reenactment). Maybe if it's not too late, I can put it all together and upload it.

Besides YouTube Live, I've been auditioning, although auditions for films have been kind of dry. I'm getting the impression that a lot of independent films are really suffering because of the economy, at least that's what I've heard. There was a film I auditioned for a couple months ago that I REALLY wanted to be involved in. It was an independent film with Michael Douglas and Susan Sarandon(sp?) attached. I haven't heard another thing about it. As for Kid Cannabis, the role I got back in the summer of this year, I haven't heard anything here nor there about the production going forward. I read somewhere that Cam Gigandet was being interviewed about Twilight (he played a big part in the film), when he was asked off-hand about Kid Cannabis. I believe he said that as far as he knew, it was still going forward. I could be wrong, though.

As for auditions, like I said, I've been seeing less and less of any independent projects coming my way and more "big-budget" films. Here are some projects I've auditioned for since my last post:

Stargate: Universe
I felt pretty confident about this audition. It's for a lead-role in the new Stargate spin-off. I've never watched an episode of Stargate in my life, but I've heard nothing but good things. Fingers crossed.

Gullivers Travels
This is a remake of the original story by Jonathan Swift, starring Jack Black. Read the script: really funny.

Alvin and the Chipmunks 2
It's a long shot, but who knows?

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief
Based on a series of books, directed by Chris Columbus. I felt insanely good about this audition. The audition was for a lead role; the character is a satyr. That would be fun.

Again, I haven't seen ANY indie projects come my way. It worries me, because at this point in my career, I feel like I have a better shot at indie films than the big-budget ones. Let's face it: I don't have as much experience as a lot of other actors; I'm just getting started. I won't get hired if they think I'm too inexperienced (i.e. my audition for Transformers 2).

I've also been auditioning for voiceovers. I got my first voiceover gig for a Call of Duty: World at War commercial, although they didn't end up using that particular campaign for their ad, so don't go listening for me anywhere. Still, it paid. The last voiceover I auditioned for was for Starcraft 2. That would be so kickass if I got that gig. I loved Starcraft when I was younger. Still do.

Besides all that stuff, I've been saving up money to move to L.A., which I plan on doing in May of next year. There's also pilot season in January/February, so I'll be flying back to L.A. for all that. Also, I'm hoping that Jimmy Kimmel asks me back to do the "Best Picture" reenactments again; that would be more great exposure. As for videos, I have a video I did for an Ad-Council campaign that should be going up on YouTube in January. Lastly, I've been talking with Edbassmaster, a popular YouTuber, for the past week or so. He lives a few hours from me, so we're going to collaborate on a few video ideas. I'm very excited about that. We got some good stuff planned.

That about does it. Thanks again to everyone for watching my videos!

Make that 13 Brandon.

If I'm not one of the twelve, make it fourteen. :)

Good luck with the auditions!

BTW, I think you should re-enact a scene from L.A. Confidential. Either the questioning scene right after Bloody Christmas (with all three cops, the DA, the commissioner and James Cromwell) or the scene where Exley interrogates the three black kids and Bud White busts in.

It'd be damn awesome. :D

Made that fifteen.......thought I should keep that going.

Sounds like you've been a very busy man. Hope it's been a blast!

I think I'm one of those lifeless twelve, since I check this thing everyday and get really excited when something new is posted.
Anyways. I checked the wikipedia page for the new Stargate show, and one of those characters is right on and sounds like you would do a damn good job at it.
It's also incredibly fascinating to watch how a film/TV career progresses from the beginning like this. It's plain damn neat. So thank you for doing all this.
In 20 years I fully expect a movie about your life.

You're moving to L.A.? That's awesome. I'll totally stalk you... er, I mean, maybe run into you sometime. I just bought Starcraft for my son because he's excited about the next one coming out. He's as taken with your reenactments as I am so he'll be doubly delighted if you get a voice role. Break a leg.

Dude! LA's just 4 hours from Vegas! If plans work out, you HAVE to come and visit now! :-D. That's great about the voiceover work! I too love that stuff! Been trying to get some gigs here and there but it's just really tough to find the actual PLACE to get hired to do it. Lord knows the casinos here are always looking for new announcers and the like!

Keep up the great work and I'll keep my fingers crossed for Jimmy getting back in touch with ya for OSCAR reenactments part Deux! :-D

Keep it real my friend!

Hey Brandon, I've been following your blog since you started it, and today I decided I wouldn't be shy and leave a comment.

I would love to see you on the new Star Gate series. That would rock! I hope you get the role.

Scene Request: Parenthood The Roller Coaster scene Between Steve Martin's Gil Buckman, Mary Steenburgen's Karen Buckman and Helen Shaw's Grandma.
Its a great scene from a great movie. I think you would enjoy the combination of humor and emotion packed into those few minutes.

Best Wishes - Bookdust

I'm sorry, but based on what you do, you aren't fit for Eli Hitchcock (Stargate Universe) and it's not really redeeming that you haven't watched one episode, and have decided to audition for it... you should have at least rushed out and watched as many episodes as you could before auditioning, to get a natural feeling for the character.

Plus, you don't strike me as the McKay, Carter, or Jackson type and so your immaturity, and "lack of confidence" aren't really going to mix well.

As much as I hope you succeed, I'm hoping you don't get that part because you don't match it and I don't want to watch 100+ episodes of poor acting.
