A few days ago, I uploaded a video letting people know that my songs are available for download on my website. The people working on my website did a great job with the addition. My goal is to get some more exclusive material on my site. The task is to find things my website can do that YouTube can't. The thing is: YouTube is a great tool to get my videos more exposure, but I'd like to get more traffic on my site. If my site can stand on its own two feet and get as many hits as my videos get on YouTube, I'll be happy. Still, I'll never stop uploading to YouTube. It's an addiction, really. I'm a functioning YouTube addict.
I had mentioned in my last video that my next video would be up in two weeks. It turns out it might be a lot sooner than that. I got an offer to make a video for Ad Council. If you haven't heard of them, you've probably seen their PSA's on TV. They did the famous "This is your brain, and this is your brain on drugs" PSA, among other ones for drugs, safe sex, etc.
Anyway, Ad Council has this new campaign to talk to young teenagers about dating, specifically about how new technology has created new problems in young relationships. These include things like: sexual harassment through texting, hacking your partner's Myspace or Facebook accounts because you don't trust them, asking for naked pictures through texts, etc. etc. They sent out a whole packet in .PDF format. My initial impression was that they sent it out to a lot of YouTubers who have a prominent say in the online community. Don't be surprised if you see similar Ad Council videos from other online personalities. I'll be interested to see who else participated.
So back to the video: I made it about two or three weeks ago, and I think they're launching their site in the next day or so. If they do, I'll be uploading my Ad Council video to YouTube at the same time they upload my video on their site. Counting BrandonHardesty.com, this video will be in three places at once. Yeesh. So, that's something to expect.
Ugh... I'm watching a special on the brown recluse spider. This guy fell asleep and found a spider on his leg at 5 in the morning. Not a good thing to watch before going to sleep.
In my last video, I also mentioned that I'd be collaborating with a fellow YouTuber. I have people guessing like mad right now (hehe), but for those of you who actually read this blog, I'll let you know: It's Edbassmaster. He lives in PA, and I'm gonna drive up there sometime this month and make a couple of videos with him. A lot of people thought it would be Makemebad35. The thing is: he does live in my state, Maryland, and he goes to my college (that I used to go to, anyway). I've talked to him a couple of times about collaborating, and I met him San Francisco when I went to YouTube Live. He's a nice guy, and I think he's hilarious, but he hasn't gotten back to me, so I'm not really sure if he wants to collaborate. I can understand that. He's doing his own thing. I find that's it's hard for me to work with other people. I can do it, but I prefer to do things all by myself sometimes. Things just get done faster that way, I guess.
In the meantime, my girlfriend and I are staying at a beach house in Ocean City for a few days with my mom and a friend of hers, just kicking back, relaxing. We managed to watch The Wrestler recently, which was AMAZING. For those of you who haven't seen it: go seek it out. If it's not playing at AMC, find a little independent theater somewhere and watch this movie. Mickey Rourke has to get at LEAST an Oscar nomination.
Hope everyone's doing all right. Stay tuned for more videos in the near future (probably in two days or less).

FYI Brandon, the PSA was hilarious! Loved the Guidance Counselor portion! The end of that part was pure genius!
Keep up the great work sir!
oookie dokey. i was surprised by the age range you were pointing out in that video
I'll have to let readers know on the blog I write on about you so you can get more hits on your website. Everyone needs to know your brilliance.
Hey, this is the first post Iv seen on your blog. Way to stand up for something worth standing up for on the internet!
And is there anywhere I could download that blue on blue picture of your face so I could use it for the album artwork for your songs, on iTunes?
Cheesy142
hey i'm a big fan of your songs on youtube :) just wondering what you do between roles, etc.
Hey man, Keep up the good work
I hope we can work together someday
your PSA was brilliant! I saw 'The Wrestler' last night and it was fantastic. Mickey definitely deserved that globe.
I'm really interested in The Wrestler. I recently saw a preview for it and thought it looked fantastic. I'll probably have to wait till it comes to video. I live in a small Ohio town. Oh well.
I'm excited for your colab work in the future. I am missing the re-enactments. Are you planning to do another request list sometime?
Hold fast brother. Peace
I don't remember seeing this in the FAQ and I didn't know if I should ask through youtube or not, so here goes: What is the meaning behind your youtube name?
This is what is says on wikipedia: "On YouTube, Hardesty goes by the username "ArtieTSMITW," which is an abbreviation for "Artie: The Strongest Man in the World," a character from one of his favorite childhood shows, The Adventures of Pete and Pete."
So I guess "Artie" is for Artie. and "TSMITW" is for The strongest man in the world...
Thanks Joseph, that makes a lot of sense now. Oh man, I totally remember Pete & Pete, and Salute Your Shorts, or even Are You Afraid of The Dark? meemooriies
Ooooh, not only are you MOVING to my state, but you live now in the area I am visiting. I'm staying in PA with a friend atm. We should get coffee and have long serious discussions about politics and religon.
Sarah~
